Green Howards Museum

You can now find the very popular mouse mugs back in stock at the Green Howards Museum in Richmond. These were introduced to the museum just before Christmas and sold out, they’ve now been restocked! The museum itself is a fascinating place full of local history in a tucked away museum in the market square of Richmond.

One of the centrepieces of the collection is Robert Thompson furniture. Known as ‘the mouseman’ he carved small mice into the construction of all his pieces creating a signature in wood. I’ve always sat on a mouseman stool when I’m throwing, in fact the stool I sit on is older than me! These mugs are inspired by his work as someone who was also a craftsperson living in North Yorkshire.

The staff from the Museum dropped by this week to see the studio and have a little tour around. In a few weeks we’ll be delivering a set of jugs to the shop also with a few mice on them just in time for the spring flowers.
