York Art Gallery is right in the heart of York, its so easy to find and well worth a visit. The gallery had a long renovation last year to radically change the space inside, it really has benefited from the changes. When I first visited there was a variety of small dimly lit narrow spaces which felt more like a house. Many of these small rooms have gone and it now has a more open feeling inside. The exhibition space seems to have increased too with more on show which is good because entry is now paid.
Last weekend I made it out to York to visit the Chocolate festival. I had a great day even though it was maybe still a little chill to be outside. It was nice to see Zouk back from the summer food fair as their Paneer Wraps are so lovely! I also dropped by El Kantina for a salad mainly because I’m on a diet but it also tasted really fresh.
I’ve become a real convert to the ‘food festival’ movement, sure it’s busy and you’ve got to jostle for a position in the queue but its quite fun to taste flavours you wouldn’t normally find. Last weekend I had a trip out to the York Food Festival, taking in some of the stands it was interesting to see that savoury was much better represented than sweet.
