Spring Magazine

This spring you can find Little Wren Pottery yarn bowls in a small feature in ‘The Knitter’ magazine. With it being a springtime issue it’s full of lighter projects. Reading it actually reminded me that I have a pack of linen yarn in my stash! I’ve never knit with linen before but some of the patterns here took my eye.

Recently I received an email about the sizing of yarn bowls, I’ve tacked this subject before but not for a while. I always felt the photos in that particular post could of been better. At the time I didn’t have any completed yarn bowls to compare just biscuit fired ones.

Yarn in a star yarn bowl

Last week’s blog post focused on the barrel shaped yarn bowls, this week I’m taking looking at the star bowls. Star bowls have a different shape, size and price. These pieces have a more traditional bowl like shape with a distinctive curve on the inside and outside. They are sized a little smaller than the barrels for more petite balls of yarn.

I feel sorry for this yarn I really do. This is the third knitting project I have started with it this year. The yarn is Rowan’s Pure Wool DK, so far it’s coping well with all the pulling out and re-knitting. The first garment I made was too small, the second too large so I’m hoping this one will be perfect!
