I’ve been getting a lot of emails lately about the ordering process for the named yarn bowls. These are the barrel shaped yarn bowls which have the lettering carved into the front of the piece. The slit for the yarn is formed in the first letter of the name. Every one of these is made individually as the order comes in so it’s made specifically for you.

My first market of the year is coming up in a couple of weeks. The Made by Mummy Markets Spring Time Market is happening next weekend! It’s a two day event at Thief Hall which is just outside of Northallerton at Thornton-le-Moor. It’s a great hall with some fantastic countryside views!

Hambleton Sports Awards 2017

Recently I’ve been working on the Hambleton Sports Awards for 2017. Making awards is an opportunity to do something different. A lot of the time in the studio I work on items which have a deeply practical function. Like bowls and plates, they are intended to be used everyday. Commemorative pieces on the are one off items where the function of it is actually secondary.

Sun and Moon yarn bowls

Moon yarn bowls have had a temporary rest from being in the shop. I wanted to alter the design on these pieces slightly for the Moon side. Each one of these yarn bowls is thrown by hand and then the sun and moon are cast from a plaster sprig mold. Basically it means that these medallions are modeled by hand once and can be reproduced multiple times.

Homegrown food festival 2017

Craft festival display

Just a quick post this one! Thanks for dropping by the Made by Mummy Market craft fair at Thief Hole a couple of weeks ago. I’m busy getting ready for my next event which will be at the end of June. You’ll find me at the Homegrown Food Festival. Each year it’s held on the Applegarth behind the high street on the last Sunday of each month. This year that falls on June 25th.
