Recently an interesting email dropped into my inbox – I’m not always able to fulfill requests I get. This time I was able to! I was asked to provide a set of dinner plates and tea plates for a photo shoot. I usually style all the photos I take myself so it’s really an opportunity to see what other people do with my work. It’s nice in a way just to be able to sit back and look at the photos!
I’ve been making pizza at home for a while now, mainly because there aren’t any decent pizza shops locally and I wasn’t really feeling like eating from frozen. This dough uses a secret ingredient to help power the yeast and that’s honey.
Pizza dough is surprisingly easy and low maintenance to make ideally it’s best to make the morning you want to eat it. Letting it prove for a long time helps the dough to develop more flavour although if your short on time you can put it together quickly too!
I often think that pottery is a multidisciplinary art, there’s so much to learn and master – it’s always pushing you to try and make sense out of unexplained things that happen in the process. It’s part art, part science and part management which makes for a sometimes unforgiving mix of potential errors that can creep into any stage of the process.
Did you notice that my website disappeared over the weekend? If you tried to access the site I was busy switching domain hosts, don’t worry I’m still here!
Summer is just around the corner and in the past few weeks I’ve been creating and experimenting with some new pieces to stock in the shop, I like to think they reflect some of the seasonality of summer with more delicate colours.
