When you run an online business pricing is always a challenge. It’s a fine balance creating a pricing structure that’s realistic for the amount of work that goes into every piece.

It’s been a long time since I last put up prices and since then the costs of running the business have gone up. Everything from the cost of raw materials like clay and glazes to transaction fees on Etsy. After this busy Christmas period an increase in prices was kind of inevitable.

Homegrown food festival 2018

Homegrown Food Festival Northallerton

It’s very nearly time for the Homegrown Food Festival 2018! I’m deep into the mid year stock take too, usually I always try to fit in a stock take prior to doing events so I know what I’ve got. Since it’s such a local event I generally try and take everything I have in the studio with me. Doing the stock take also reveals if you lack certain items and this year turns out I have absolutely loads of little milk jugs. Who knew?

Christmas last order dates 2016

I know it might seem far too early for Christmas talk but I’ve been getting asked about this lots! I’m getting asked about this because it can take 3-4 weeks to make custom order pieces. If you have something in mind then it’s a good idea to get in there early. Lead times do become longer in the run up to Christmas due to the higher volume of orders.

Please keep in mind that these dates are just provisional. Last year I had to close out yarn bowl orders two weeks earlier than planned due to demand. I’ll be regularly reviewing these dates as we get closer.
