Looking back at a few custom pottery orders

March is a busy month with Mother’s Day and spring in the air, I’ve been working on a variety of custom orders and lots of yarn bowls!

This pair of yarn bowls were a design challenge, the symbol on the front is Beaivi the Sami symbol for the sun. I’ve been to Finland a few times and seen Sami symbols on jewellery, Sami are a nomadic tribal people who live in the arctic circle. In a way the Beaivi symbol is very similar to the Sun and Moon yarn bowl since they’re both celestial symbols.

Little Wren Pottery at Northallerton Home Grown Food Festival

Unfortunately both myself and the kiln haven’t been feeling well lately, I’ve had flu and my kiln has needed the elements replaced. If you’ve placed an order over the last couple of weeks it’s likely to be in the glaze kiln this weekend but if you have any questions about the status of your order just get in touch.

Working on a more decorative style

Spring always seems a much quieter time in the studio with the busyness of Christmas over and done with. I’ve been spending a little more time experimenting with decorative techniques. Everything in the studio lately has had a re-organise as I’ve been wanting to add some additional workbench space, somehow it seems that there’s never enough!
