A brush with fame, or a tribute to Neil Gaiman

If you follow me on Twitter you might have noticed this weekend’s tweets were mostly about my trip through to Edinburgh to see Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy performed live.

I used to watch Hitchhiker’s when I was a kid mesmerized by the somewhat simple special effects and computer style animations created by TV wizards at the BBC. I’ve always loved the music of science fiction series as well. There’s something familiar and so optimistic about their cheery jingles, the Hitchhiker’s one being particularly memorable.

Introducing two new glazes; Red Jasper and Midnight Blue

After saying goodbye to ruby red a couple of weeks ago I already had a new replacement glaze lined up, red is such a popular glaze choice I didn’t want to leave it out of the pallet.

I posted a picture of the new glaze when it came out of the kiln last week and I hadn’t chosen a name for it. I got inundated with suggestions on Twitter and Facebook from hot shades of ‘lava’ and ‘volcano’ to stoney ‘red granite’.

Hello Woolfest!

Last weekend was Woolfest and I enjoyed it so much! It was lovely to meet so many people and especially surprising to see how many of you had already heard of Little Wren Pottery and Yarn Bowls.

If you’re a new visitor to the site after Woolfest, welcome! Don’t forget you can add me on Ravelry too. It was a really wet and wild weekend over in the Lake District, but it was good to see that even on the torrential Friday people were still braving the elements.

In addition to all the people I met there were of course the animals too, from sheep to alpaca it was hard to resist their wooly charms. Public art group ‘Flock’ were also there with just a small sample of 2,000 of their pom pom sheep!
