Pumpkin for Halloween

A few months ago I introduced a new seasonal glaze into the range, an autumnal pumpkin orange. So far it’s had mixed reactions at craft fairs, personally I like it but it isn’t the sort of shade that’s to everyones taste.

I was really pleased when this custom order came through for a set of six place settings and pumpkin was one of the chosen colours. I think it goes really nicely in with the other softer glaze colours I currently stock.

Shakespeare’s country – Stratford Upon Avon

If you’ve been following me over on Twitter you might have noticed that over the weekend I was over in Stratford Upon Avon for a little break. I had been before but not for about 7 years or more, surprisingly the atmosphere of the place hadn’t really changed.

I found it’s streets and canals welcoming, I spent time feeding the swans and geese by the river! We visited my favourite of the Shakespeare properties, Mary Arden’s House which is about 10 minutes or so on the train in Wilmcote.

Thoughts from a spinning pottery wheel

As you know I like to mix things up every now and again with the kinds of blog posts that I make. This one is definitely more of a personal nature – I’ll be unveiling some new additions to the shop next week so be sure to check back!

I’ve done quite a few interviews for both blogs and e-zines now and I quite often get asked the question ‘how did you get into pottery?’ After all it’s not a very common hobby for the average 20 something!

Introducing gift cards!

A few months ago I was emailed with a request for a gift card, unfortunately I wasn’t offering them at the time and I thought why not? Pottery can make a great gift especially since its something practical to give, from the mug you have at your desk to plates for the newlyweds but people’s home spaces are so individual.

Ode to my mug

Wendy from Clark Jewellery over on Folksy sent me this lovely poem about the mug she recently bought! Hopefully it’ll inspire you during your morning brew.

mousemugs Ode to my mug

I yawn in the cold kitchen standing still,
The garden dark bright orchid on the sill,
The water’s magic moment nearly come,
The kettle starts to rattle, hiss, and hum,
I fill my mug with honey milk and tea,
No one else can use this mug but me,
I see the potters hand in every turn,
Mug warms my hands but not so hot to burn,
We share these magic moments in the cold
This mug to me is worth its weight in gold

If you’re feeling the spark of inspiration or have got any photos of pieces you’ve purchased from Little Wren Pottery in your own home I’d love to see them and repost them on the blog. Just get in touch, thanks!

If you’re after a mug of your own check out what I have in stock at the moment over on Etsy or Folksy.
