A trip to Thorp Perrow and Bedale

The weather has been improving lately as we head towards British Summer Time, its not quite as cold out and the spring buds are in bloom. After the chilly days of winter it’s nice to be able to get out and about!

Thorp Perrow is one of the RHS gardens located next to Bedale it has both formal gardens and more natural woodland landscapes. Everywhere you turned you could see very pretty vistas and something to attract the eye. From formal box hedges to untamed snowdrop woods it had a showcase for all types of planting.

Little Wren Pottery at Northallerton Home Grown Food Festival

Unfortunately both myself and the kiln haven’t been feeling well lately, I’ve had flu and my kiln has needed the elements replaced. Working on a more decorative style

Spring always seems a much quieter time in the studio with the busyness of Christmas over and done with. I’ve been spending a little more time experimenting with decorative techniques. Everything in the studio lately has had a re-organise as I’ve been wanting to add some additional workbench space, somehow it seems that there’s never enough!

Saying goodbye to Red Jasper and Sage Green

Last week I updated the glaze chart to reflect a few of the changes taking place in the colour selections. Some of the limited edition colours are being phased out and the first two to go are Red Jasper and Sage green.

I do have a small amount of each glaze left but unfortunately not enough to now offer them as permanent colours in the glaze chart. Over the next few weeks I’ll be trying to use them up on smaller pieces such as mugs and small bowls.
