Happy Fathers Day!

I hope you all had a great day with your Dads. My Dad and I went to Hexham Races, it was ladies day and the hottest of the summer I’ve experienced yet. Dad didn’t win anything but I came up trumps for the first race of the day winning £20.

I also got my Dad a couple of small gifts some beer soap from The Beer Soap Company and the great dad songs card by Konnie Kapow!

Getting crafty for Fathers Day

Dads are difficult, for some reason mothers day is easy perhaps its something about being the same gender. New shoes, a handbag, trip to the spa all these things are great for Mums but what about Dads?

I’ve got my fathers day just about wrapped up but if you’re still struggling for ideas heres some great craft tutorials of things you can make yourself. Handmade always means more, perhaps its not as expensive but you put in the time and effort to make something just for Dad.

Crafting together

Its been a while since I posted anything that was directly craft / making related. I was asked the other day by Amity of the UK Etsy blog if I could provide some photos of me and my dad together both what we’re like now and when I was young.

I didn’t actually have any pictures on hand of myself and my Dad crafting, we don’t normally craft together at the same time and usually I just ask him for advice if I’m having difficulty. So the other evening there were some pots that needed glazing and so we decided to do them together for a change.

Scottish pottery adventures

Over the long weekend I took the opportunity to get away and visit Scotland, I initially wanted to go visit some of my old University friends but then I realised I’d be around for potfest!

Our weekend started with a trip to Edinburgh, I was quite determined to visit a knitting shop I’d heard about called K1. I certainly wasn’t disappointed when I got there! I thought it was a great little shop selling some really good quality knitting yarns and other materials.

Sunderland pottery

A few months back UK Handmade started a competition for community members to write an article to be showcased in their magazine. The only limitation was that it had to be on a craft theme.

I wanted to write an article about pottery and since I knew a little already Sunderland pottery was my chosen topic. Theres surprisingly a lot of information on the internet about the topic already but I wanted to bring it into the limelight by featuring it.
