The joy of tea

Tea is such a major thing in our house, somehow its a great year-round drink from refreshing in summer to comforting in winter. Sometimes I wonder how anyone got things done before tea was discovered!

It’s a very British thing to love tea quite so much. Somehow it appears in contemporary pop culture quite often from Hitchhikers Guide and the creation of the Impossible Improbability Drive to it’s appearance in Wallace and Gromit cartoons. At the same time though its a very hotly debated topic – brewing in cups vs a teapot, how much milk, and if it should be milk first in the cup or tea first. Honestly it’s a uniquely British ever so slightly polite minefield.

Did you spot Little Wren Pottery in Inside Crochet?

This month’s Inside Crochet featured a small article about Little Wren Pottery yarn bowls! It’s a great little feature in a very beautiful magazine that’s really thoughtfully put together. I’ll admit I don’t really crochet much but that’s mainly due to the patterns that are available.

Dwell by Martin Storey

I’d been knitting Dwell for about a year, although I took a break over December. It’s now finally completed! It’s certainly got that new jumper feel. This pattern was originally printed in the Rowan book ‘Pioneer’ but I got my copy of it from issue 64 of The Knitter where it appears on the cover.

Overall it’s a nice pattern, I did get really nervous when knitting the back because it looked huge but the final piece looks really good. The honeycomb style cable pattern creates quite a stretchy piece which creates a flattering back without having to do any shaping.
