This month you’ll find Little Wren Pottery yarn bowls in the knit.wear! It’s an international magazine published quarterly by Interweave Press. You’ll find Little Wren Pottery in the Spring/Summer edition on page 4.
Lately I’ve been getting a lot of emails from customers asking about packaging. To send pottery through the post does take a lot of careful packing so that it’ll arrive with you successfully.
I send out the majority of my work in double thickness cardboard boxes. These are pretty sturdy and thick boxes partially made from recycled cardboard pulp. You can in most areas recycle brown cardboard no problem in your recycling bin.
I don’t often discontinue items in my Made to Order range but I’m currently having a sale to do just that. Over the next couple of months I’ll be working on some new Yarn Bowl styles to add into the shop. There’ll be two new ones hopefully! In the meantime while I’m working on them I’m selling off the small amount of stock I have to make way for these new styles.
It’s been such a long time since I last posted! Christmas is a time of year when the shop gets extra traffic. Increased sales reveal things about your online shop you’d never thought about before. People both new and repeat customers ask questions and look at your shop with fresh eyes and suggest changes. I usually always update the regular ‘Made to order’ listings every year.
I wanted to put out an update for the completion times of items before Christmas – particularly yarn bowls. Dinner set orders and sets of multiple items have now closed, it gets harder to complete them the closer we get to December.
This year I got to create the Hambleton Sports Awards. The awards are given to both teams and individuals who are involved in local sports throughout the county. Working together with the event organizer Clare we created this unique design. The idea was to create something that had a more traditional ‘award’ look with their fluted shape. These would also make great vases just because of how tall they are.
It might not feel like it but Christmas is just around the corner. During this time there is an increase in orders so knowing the dates of last orders in the coming weeks is useful for planning your shopping! There are different dates depending on the type of order your looking to place. I’d recommend reading through them carefully as they’re different for in stock and made to order items.
Please keep in mind that these dates are just provisional, if orders increase to a point where I risk not fulfilling them in time they will close early. I’ll be regularly reviewing these dates as we get closer. If there are any problems with your order I’ll likely get in touch with you directly. Of course if you have any questions about ordering just get in touch!
A few weeks ago I posted that Cat yarn bowls would be available in the shop as made to order items. The listing for this is now live so they’re now ready to be ordered! I was keen to get the changes to yarn bowls completed before the busy winter season starts.
I’m currently renewing the line of yarn bowls offered in the shop before the autumn/winter season. After retiring the Snail yarn bowl I was looking to replace it with a new design. When I make yarn bowls I get custom requests for pieces with a particular motif. Over the years I’ve gotten a lot of requests for cat yarn bowls.
Recently I’ve been working on the Hambleton Sports Awards for 2017. Making awards is an opportunity to do something different. A lot of the time in the studio I work on items which have a deeply practical function. Like bowls and plates, they are intended to be used everyday. Commemorative pieces on the are one off items where the function of it is actually secondary.
