New Look Workroom Project Runway pattern NL6120

I picked up this pattern a while ago as I was looking for a dress to make that would be at about my sort of level – simple, easy and not too time consuming! Although generally I’m quite pleased with how it turned out but as always it could be better. This is a kimono style dress which has a sort of large t-shirt shape with no waist shaping.

Stung by the sewing bee

I don’t watch that much TV but recently I’ve been glued to the sewing bee, its a great show and strangely compelling! We’ve had a sewing machine in our house for a while now and it’s mostly been used to create soft furnishings – curtains and cushions.

This was my first go at following a pattern and creating a garment to wear. I tried to pick something that was going to be easy to follow, make and in a fabric that was going to be easy to work with.

Knitting Fayer by Kim Hargreaves

Back in October I decided it was time to raid the stash for a Christmas knitting project. I had some beautiful Silk Twist by Rowan in my collection which has long since been discontinued. It’s a lovely variegated yarn of blues. Originally this yarn was going to become Amore from one of the Rowan magazines the only pattern I had for this yarn.

I did start knitting it but sadly it just wasn’t to be. Amore is a cable pattern interspersed with lace and although its easy to follow and would be a fabulous introduction to lace the colour variation was visually off putting.
