Christmas always brings a lot of challenges one of which is selling yarn bowls. At this time of year most yarn bowls get sold as gifts. Normally I sell yarn bowls through made to order listings where I wait for the order to come in and then glaze them in the required colour on demand.Continue reading
The autumn season is nearly over and Christmas is just around the corner. With that in mind I’m publishing the last postage dates for ordering from the shop. There are slightly different postage times for items in stock and items that are made to order since made to order items can take longer. If your ever in any doubt about the status of your order you can always get in touch.Continue reading
Currently I’m preparing for my last event of the year; The Hepworth Wakefield Christmas Fair. I’ll be there selling my work on the 29th of November to December 1st, 10am – 5pm. It’s £2 per person for general entry to the event, members of the gallery get in free and under 16’s also go free.Continue reading
This past weekend I was at the Northern Craft Fair at The Baltic in Gateshead. If you dropped by thanks so much! It was a great event and even better to see it so lively with lots of people. The last couple of days I’ve been doing a lot of stock taking so you may find that some items have disappeared from the shop post event.Continue reading
This winter season I’m trying out something new for the first time. Starting this October I’ll be distributing Little Wren Pottery flyers into every order. It’s something I’ve always meant to try in order to showcase the work that gets produced in the studio.Continue reading
In a couple of weeks time you’ll be able to find me at The Baltic for the first eve Northern Craft Fair to be held there. It’s the 5th and 6th of October from 10am to 5pm and you’ll find the fair on the first floor of the building.Continue reading
It’s been a long time coming but you might have noticed the Little Wren Pottery website has significantly changed! I’d been planning this for quite a long time but ‘desk’ work often gets overlooked for making pots. Since we’re about to enter the busy winter season though I felt as though it was finally time.Continue reading
I’ve been neglecting the blog since October! Since then I’ve introduced new bird yarn bowls into my Etsy shop! These are intended to be a signature style because of course they look like little wrens with upright tails. They’re the smaller bowl shaped yarn bowl and can be ordered from any of the colours on the glaze chart.
Every one is made and decorated by hand so sometimes they have a slightly different personality! The pieces are hand thrown and then the tails and beaks attached once the pot is leather hard. They’re ideal for weights of yarn up to 50 grams of double knit weight. The curve for yarn on these runs the opposite way to the star bowls an if your working with a very fine yarn you could even run it through one of the eyes.
Yes it’s that time of year again! We’re zooming towards the end of 2018 and with that in mind it’s time for last ordering dates for before Christmas and into the New Year. The shop online will be continuing to take orders over the holidays but you may experience delays in service during this time.
Please keep in mind that these dates are just provisional, if orders increase to a point where I risk not fulfilling them in time they will close early. I’ll be regularly reviewing these dates as we get closer. If there are any problems with your order I’ll likely get in touch with you directly. Of course if you have any questions about ordering just get in touch!
I’ve been working on a lot of larger orders at the moment. One of these orders was for the commemoration of the Battle of the Standard which happened in September. For the event I worked with the commemoration committee to create a unique design for the event.
