Cat yarn bowls preview

Cat yarn bowl

I’m currently renewing the line of yarn bowls offered in the shop before the autumn/winter season. After retiring the Snail yarn bowl I was looking to replace it with a new design. When I make yarn bowls I get custom requests for pieces with a particular motif. Over the years I’ve gotten a lot of requests for cat yarn bowls.

The cat yarn bowl has gone through lots of different versions. When I first started the designs were really complex and not really suited for clay. Pots really suit very simplistic designs that look cartoonish. The more you try to make something detailed it just looks wrong!

I’ve refined the design of the cat yarn bowl by working with customers over a long period of time. It’s actually a pretty tough motif to incorporate! These pieces feature a bit cat face at the front with a smiling expression. Each one of these cat faces is attached by hand and on the reverse you’ll find the yarn slit. For these bowls the yarn slit is a curly cat tail in the shape of a ‘J’.

These yarn bowls are supposed to look a bit like a cat sitting down when they tuck their feet underneath. They’ll get an official listing in the shop in the next couple of weeks once I’ve completed a sample for the listing. I’ll let you know when it goes live!

Made to order items

I just wanted to give a heads up about what’s happening in the shop at the moment. Yarn bowl lead times right now are reasonably short about 2 weeks or less, super short! It’s summer so not that many folks are knitting.

I’m experiencing a high number of dinner set orders right now which is pushing lead times up for them significantly. If your thinking of ordering a new dinner set and are concerned about how long it’s going to take send me an email. I’ll try my best to give you a feel for how long it’s due to take.

Wanting to purchase you “wool” yarn bowl. Tried to order but it said you didn’t post to New Zealand. Would love to purchase this bowl if it is possible.
