It’s been a while since I last updated the blog, Christmas was exceptionally busy and kept me away from the computer for a while. At the start of this new year I’d like to thank all of you for supporting Little Wren Pottery because without you my business wouldn’t be possible. From buying my work to recommending me to a friend or just reading the blog it all helps to support my work.
I always like to think that I make pots for people and it makes me happy to think that my work touches peoples lives daily. People spend time and live with the pieces I make for them. Even though I spend a lot of time making I never forget about the person who forms part of the function of the piece.
We build up daily attachments to the objects in our lives and in turn they take on a character of our own, they’re there for us at the end of a tiring day to comfort and console. Pots go from my studio and out into the world to start their own stories and lives. Bernard Leach once said that all pots have a beginning middle and end.
New year is always a time for reflection and looking forward. I’ve already got a few events planned for 2015 and we’ll have to see what the new year brings with it. Hopefully I’ll get to meet you at some point, but even if I don’t maybe we’ll meet through a pot or two.
Finally I’d just like to leave you with a positive message for the turning of the year. Often at this time we’re bombarded with ‘New year new new’ messages but I often wonder what’s wrong with the old you? Just be more of yourself and don’t feel guilty about it. Whatever it is you choose to be, be the best you can be.
