Summer always seems to bring custom orders as people prepare for birthdays or anniversaries. While I can’t always say ‘yes’ to all custom orders I always try to accommodate requests.
As a potter and a designer they stretch my skills and while I don’t always get it right first time these suggestions often hit on great new shapes. One of my favourites was this set of elephant pieces, the combination of the glaze colour and elephant makes me think of African Safari’s.
I’ve also changed the way I do custom named bowls recently. I’ve always used wax to add the names onto bowls but got a new set of brushes to add a more calligraphic feel.
I’m also in the process of changing my glaze chart of colours for the upcoming winter season, so two new colours are making their way into the shop – Milk Chocolate and Midnight Blue. Unfortunately I’ve also had to say goodbye to red for now it’ll shortly be getting replaced in July with a new shade.
If you picked up a copy of this month’s ‘Knitting’ magazine published by GMC you might have spotted my yarn bowls in this months ‘objects of desire’ spread.
You can find out more about my yarn bowls over in the shop but its now only two weeks until Woolfest! Hopefully I’ll see you there.
