I don’t usually use this blog as a platform for self expression but I wanted to take a few moments out to talk about something thats been on my mind recently.
It’s easy sometimes to sit back and think that your life isn’t really very remarkable, the day to day living often gets in the way of what makes your life so amazing. From picking up apples in the greengrocers to brushing your teeth every morning its that routine that makes us so complacent.
Sometimes I think throwing pots is quite ordinary, but it’s not. I just think its normal because I do it all the time, don’t get me wrong I love that thrill of creating something really beautiful and that moment of peeking into the kiln door excites me. What I mean is I don’t think my life is noteworthy because I live in it.
When I’m sitting there behind the wheel I wonder if I met my ancestors what would they think of me, would they be proud that I chose to do something so old fashioned? Or would they be ashamed that I wasn’t out there in a fast car burning it up in lifes fast lane?
Maybe its time you celebrated the everyday, what do you do thats really amazing?
This Sunday you can come meet me in person at the Ryhope Pumping Station in Sunderland from 10am. The Pumping Station will be open and its quite fascinating to have a look around, there’ll also be a classic car rally so I’m hoping to take a few interesting pictures. See you there!
