Just before Christmas the new edition of knitty.com came out, about this time I was looking for aran jumper pattern to knit. I’d knit my boyfriend one a few years ago but I’d never made one for myself.
Well I saw beatnik and fell in love with it, I really like the deceptively simple looking regular cable pattern. I also have a bit of a thing for cowl or boat necks, I just find them flattering on me and I love their loose feeling especially when compared to turtlenecks.
Anyway I cast this on Christmas day and as you can see I haven’t really gotten very far with it so far. Probably due to a number of reasons – I don’t have an awful lot of time to knit and I also pulled it out after a week.
So I’m a week behind and I initially struggled to get to grips with knitting and purling through the back of the loop which ironically is probably the most simple instruction in the whole pattern. I’m knitting this up in a grey colour of Rowan’s pure wool aran, its a really lovely wool to work with.
I’ll keep you updated on its progress and hopefully a lovely photo of a completed jumper… eventually!
I’d love to hear from you! Do you have any questions about my work? If you do please leave them in the comments below and I’ll answer them in my next blog post.
